Tías Mayor Juan José Cruz has said that he is looking for businessmen to invest in car parks in Puerto del Carmen, and announced that the planned underground parking area near Hotel Fariones will now not go ahead.
In a radio interview, Cruz said that the parking spaces available at the recently-opened Soco Shopping Centre were helping to solve the problem of parking in the area of Calle Timanfaya, but that further solutions were required.
These solutions would require private investment, he added, and pointed out that this would be a more attractive commercial prospect if the parking was on the Avenida de las Playas.
Cruz also said that plans to build an underground car park near Hotel Fariones had been abandoned. “The time to do this was while the hotels were being renovated,” he said. “It would be outrageous to close the area off again, as it would take years.”
Cruz also announced that work on the new Macher roundabout would be finished this weekend “if all goes well”, and that the LZ-2 would be reopened.
