More than 500 people took part in yesterday’s Walk Against Cancer at Mancha Blanca, the seventh annual event of its kind.

Wearing pink T-shirts, the walkers gathered in the square at Mancha Blanca, where Carmen Arrocha the President of Lanzarote’s Family Oncological Association (AFOL) gave a speech criticising politicians for delays in the arrival of the radiotherapy bunker at Lanzarote’s main hospital.

The walkers then headed off for a 4.5 kilometre walk to the Restaurante Las Cadenas and back, where they were greeted by drummers.

Sever4al local politicians including the Mayors of Tinajo and Teguise and the President of the Cabildo participated in the walk, which is estimated to have raised €4,500.
