Local firefighters welcomed the new year with more fires on the island.
At approximately 1am, the emergency services were alerted to a fire at a rubbish container on Calle Guenia in Arrecife.
Later that night, at approximately 1:20am, they were called to Calle Garajonay in Teguise to attend to a small fire that started after an issue with one of the lit fireworks.
Finally, at almost 5 in the morning, they were called to another rubbish container fire at Calle Punta del Pasito which affected ten containers.
