The wet weather appears determined to stay over the Canary Islands as we enter the New Year.

Forecasts indicate Storm Francis will begin to affect the Canaries from Thursday, January 1st, bringing periods of persistent rain and wind. As always, residents are advised to monitor updates as the forecast develops.

While the western islands are expected to bear the brunt of it, Spain’s Meteorological Agency (AEMET) confirms that rainfall will also reach Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The storm is predicted to sweep across the Canaries from west to east, with Lanzarote being the last island to feel its impact.

Forecast for Lanzarote

Friday, January 2nd: The island will wake up to cloudy intervals with generally light and occasional rain, though this may become persistent in places. Temperatures will remain similar to recent days, with lows of 15°C and highs of 22°C. A moderate west wind will blow.

Saturday, January 3rd: Conditions will be very similar, with cloudy intervals and light, scattered showers across the island. Temperatures will hold steady, ranging from 14°C to 21°C, with a continuing moderate westerly wind.

Sunday, January 4th: Little change is expected. Skies will stay cloudy with intervals, and light, scattered, and occasional rainfall will continue. Temperatures will dip slightly to between 14°C and 20°C, with the wind remaining moderately from the west.
