UD Lanzarote have appointed the Argentine manager Leonel “Pipa” Gancedo as their manager, after the departure of Mateo García.
The club confirmed the appointment yesterday, days after García had confirmed he would not be continuing in Arrecife. García managed to keep the Rojillos from relegation during the 21/22 and guided them to the play-offs this year.
Gancedo turned out for Spanish teams Osasuna and Real Murcia during his playing career, and went on to manage C.A.I. Patagonia Argentina, guiding them to promotion, before becoming sporting director at River Plate, one of South America’s biggest clubs.
