Lanzarote Tiene Un Limite, the organisation that organised the protests against mass tourism last year and in 2024, has slammed the announcement of a new five-star hotel in Playa Blanca.
The association called the decision “an outrage” and repeated its calls for a moratorium on construction of new hotels.
While recognising that the plans for the hotel is within the law, they stated “legality is not always consistent with the social and environmental reality we live in.”
“More beds mean more pressure on water, more traffic, more waste, and more difficulty accessing housing. This directly affects how we live every day.”
“The streets spoke loud and clear on all the islands, “said the association. “The political class continues to laugh in the face of a public that is increasingly clear and forceful against mass tourism”.
