The Guardia Civíl have arrested one person and are investigating another for a case of negligent homicide at a clinic in Costa Teguise.
Another five people are accused of impersonating nurses without professional qualifications, one is charged with fraud and another with revealing medical secrets.
The investigation began in February, after a resident complained of various offences being committed at a well-known clinic in Costa Teguise. Reports have not mentioned the name of the establishment.
Among the offences committed are a plastic surgery operation carried out by untrained staff, for which the patient was billed twice the normal amount. Patients confidential medical details are also alleged to have been shared online.
In the homicide case, one of the perpetrators attended a medical emergency at a hotel and ordered the transfer of the patient to the clinic in the knowledge that he could not provide the adequate resources or care. The patient died, and the Guardía Civíl have requested assistance from German police to investigate a possible homicide.
Guardia Civil also entered the clinic, and a related business in Madrid, taking a large number of documents. New arrests have not been ruled out.
