Military peacetime patrols on Lanzarote

Troops from the “Soria” 9th Infantry Regiment of the XVI BRICAN (Canarian Brigade) are currently carrying out ground patrols at various strategic points on Lanzarote.

The purpose of these tasks is to reinforce surveillance, deter potential threats, and guarantee the security of land areas under national sovereignty on the island.

This activity is part of the Permanent Operations programme, one of the Armed Forces’ (FAS) main contributions to National Security in times of peace.

The deployment in Lanzarote permits effective surveillance and increases knowledge of the terrain and the island’s social reality. It is also intended to promote the integration of soldiers into the local community and strengthens the bond between the armed forces and the citizens.
