325,730 tourists arrived on the island in March 2025, the highest number of the year.

It is possible that St. Patrick’s Day may have contributed to the numbers, but although Irish tourism performed strongly throughout the year, it only accounted for a small increase of a couple of thousand arrivals in March

The bulk of March visits were due to 166,000 British tourists, and families don’t appear to have been a major factor, as the Easter holidays took place well into in April.

February was the second-busiest month, followed by October, which was the most popular month among British visitors, attracting 170,196. October has become an increasingly popular month in recent years and is regarded by many visitors and residents as one of the loveliest months to be on the island.

July was the only other month that brought more than 300,000 tourists, while the school holiday months of April, August and December failed to meet the 300,000 mark.

September and June were the least busy months, but the island’s tourist industry will be more concerned about December, which saw a drastic fall of 13.1% on the year before, more than 40,000 fewer tourists than in 2024.

Nationality-wise, the British remain the island’s most important market, while the Irish have now far outstripped Germany as the second-largest market. The dwindling German market was also outnumbered by domestic Spanish visits last year.
