César Manrique’s splendid sculpture Fobos has been returned to the roundabout at Tahiche.
The delicate, interconnected silver orbs of Manrique’s “wind toy” will once again revolve hypnotically after over a year of maintenance work.
The work was delayed by staff shortages and the fact that spare parts for such a piece have to be hand-made by skilled craftsman.
Fobos is located at the site of the crossroads where Manrique lost his life in a car accident in 1992, a short distance from the César Manrique Foundation.
The Cabildo has also announced that Manrique’s wind toy in honour of Lanzarote’s visionary President Pepín Ramirez will also shortly be returned to the roundabout at the airport.
