Workers at Lanzarote’s CACTS, (Centres of Arts, Culture and Tourism) will once again wear the uniforms that César Manrique designed for them.

Announcing the tender to provide the garments, tourist councillor Ángel Vásquez described the uniforms as “works of art that deserve to be admired again; another example of the talent and creativity of Manrique”.

The uniforms vary according to the centre and the worker’s job, often feature bold colours and striking patterns, and contain references to traditional aspects of local dress such as the cummerbund or the patchwork shirts of la Graciosa.

New designs will also be created for the Castillo de San José restaurant and the Bar Picasso at El Almacén, the Arrecife arts centre co-founded by Manrique.
