Lionel Morales, Lanzarote’s paralympic athlete, has won the Spanish Championship in Águials, Murcia.
Lionel won the triathlon in a time of 1:10:24, almost 20 minutes ahead of his nearest rival. Her is now preparing for a World Championship even that will also take place in Spain next weekend.
“I came out of the water first,” explained Lionel- “I always lose some time having to change my prosthesis for the cycling, but in the bike, it was very good. I beat those in my category and in the foot race I started very strong but then slowed down because I have the World Cup next Saturday,” he explained.
Lionel was particularly pleased to master this course after a terrible experience in 2014, when he ended up in a coma due to the extreme heat.
