The weather forecast is promising for the last weekend of this year’s carnival season, which will see parades taking place in Playa Blanca and La Graciosa.

A dry weekend is predicted, with plenty of sunshine and moderate winds. Temperatures will range between 14 and 19 degrees Celsius and the calima conditions will persist.

Playa Blanca’s parade will set off from near the ALDI supermarket at 6pm and make its way into the town centre.

Later, at the venue on Avenida Papagayo opposite the Princesa Yaiza Hotel there’ll be a concert by Puerto Rican merengue star Elvis Crespo, giving you the chance to hear his huge hit “Suavemente” for the 500th time.

Celebrations will continue with a Daytime Carnival in the same place at 12.30 pm on Sunday, and the fabulous Canarian drag queens will be strutting their stuff at 8.30 pm.

Meanwhile, over on La Graciosa, the eighth island celebrates its much smaller parade at 6 pm on Saturday and will bury its sardine at the same time on Sunday.
