Lanzarote’s wine industry is raising a glass after a string of successes at two major European competitions. Four wineries from Lanzarote have returned from the mainland and Germany with a collection of prestigious awards.
The island secured a total of five medals: four at the Vinespaña 2026 competition in Medina del Campo, Valladolid, and one at the Berliner Wine Trophy 2026 in Germany.
Leading the charge at the Castilian event was Bodegas Martinón, which claimed the competition’s highest honour. The winery was awarded a Grand Gold Medal for its Martinón Blanco Seco 2025 in the Still Whites category. It followed this up with a Silver Medal for the Martinón Afrutado 2025 in the same category.
The accolades from Vinespaña, which took place shortly after the start of March, did not stop there. Bodegas Timanfaya secured a Gold Medal for its Timanfaya Malvasía Dulce Natural Selección 2018, which triumphed in the Minor Varieties category. In the same category, Bodega José Miguel Morales Morín earned a Silver Medal for its Tisalaya 2024.
Meanwhile, the island’s reputation was also bolstered in the German capital. At the Berliner Wine Trophy, Bodega Producciones Arráez Bravo took home a Gold Medal for its Lágrima de Malvasía Volcánica 2025.
