Lanzarote wine prices will continue to rise, the President of Lanzarote’s Wine Council has stated.
In an interview with La Voz, Jorge Rodríguez said that it was his aim to situate the island’s wines among the most select in the world.
“The prices that are being paid for a kilo of grapes are exactly what we’ve been aiming for,” said Rodríguez. “This means that the hard work of the winegrowers is valued and well-compensated.”
“In any wine -growing region in the world there are bottles that can fetch hundreds of Euros,” said Rodríguez. “And people pay it. This is what we should be aiming for.”
Rodríguez also predicted that climate change would contribute to price rises of wines globally. “Climate change means that we cannot have continuous production over time, the harvests are more irregular and that will cause wine prices worldwide to rise a lot.”
