The Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL) and Asolan will be present once again at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which will be held in Madrid from January 21 to 25.
“Air connectivity is once again a priority for Lanzarote. Current forecasts for next summer show a decline of 2.3%, and we want to analyse this data in depth in meetings with airlines, agents, and tour operators to see if there is room for improvement or reversal in some markets,” said Susana Pérez, president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation and ASOLAN.
The Federation will attend FITUR with the aim of strengthening connectivity with mainland Spain in particular, as a 7.7% decline is forecast for next summer, and working on the recovery of some key markets for Lanzarote, which had accumulated negative figures up to November. Although 2025 saw an increase in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (+3.8%) and Ireland (+6.3%), other traditional markets have seen declines, such as Germany (-8.6%), France (-1%), the Netherlands (-9.1%), and Belgium (-16.1%), making it even more necessary to continue diversifying source markets.
The hotel sector will also attend FITUR with important projects to modernise accommodation facilities, aimed at creating more innovative, efficient, and sustainable facilities.
“These investments improve service quality and customer experience, attract tourists with greater purchasing power, and add value to the destination, consolidating Lanzarote as a benchmark for tourism quality.” Lanzarote leads the way in terms of 5* luxury accommodation in the Canary Islands, and in recent years, 60% of 4- and 5-star establishments have undergone renovation and modernisation investments.
As in every edition, the Lanzarote Tourism Federation and ASOLAN will have a busy schedule of meetings at FITUR with national and international airlines and tour operators, with the aim of analysing market developments, strengthening connectivity, and continuing to position Lanzarote as a quality, sustainable, and competitive destination.
