The Cabildo have closed the trail that runs through the barranco de Tenegüime until August to avoid disturbing Egyptian Vultures during nesting season.
The barranco de Tenegüime is a protected area that covers 421 hectares and is home to various plant species such as bejeques, tabaibas, lavandulas as well as rare species such as tajose and romero marino.
The Egyptian Vulture (or guirre) is endemic to the Canary Islands. It is a carrion-eating bird of prey that is categories as in danger of extinction which is why the trail has been closed during the nesting season.
