Lanzarote’s Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism (CACTS) will operate on a budget of €51 million next year, the highest figure ever approved.

The figure will be mainly spent on wage increases for employees, “improvements in visitor experiences” and “reinforcement of the restaurants” at the centres. The meeting of the CACT officials yesterday announced that the centres made a profit of €5.6 million last year.

Much of the budget will stem from entrance fees, which are predicted to raise around €38 million. A proposal to raise the entrance fees to the CACTs for the second time in two years, with a possible increase of ticket prices to the Fire Mountains from €22 to €30, was postponed until tour operators and travel agents were consulted.

If approved in the future, a €30 entrance fee to Timanfaya would be the same price as entrance to the Acropolis in Athens.
