The board of the CACTs (Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism) of Lanzarote yesterday approved a further hike in entrance fees, just two years after they were increased by up to 66%. The new prices will come into effect in the New Year.
Admission to the Montañas de Fuego at Timanfaya will increase to €30, with a reduced price of €15 for children. Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de Los Verdes will each be €17, (8.50 for children).
The Cactus Garden and the Mirador del Rio will be €9, with children again at half price, while the Castillo de San José will cost €5.40 (€2.70).
Reductions will remain for Canary Island residents, and Lanzarote residents will enjoy even lower discounts amounting to one or two Euros per visit.
While the higher entrance fees have resulted in a notable drop in attendance figures at the most popular tourist sites, income from tickets has increased.
