Lanzarote made its debut at the World Cup last night as local lad Alejandro Hernández refereed the match between Brazil and Haiti in Philadelphia.
Hernández has been a top-flight referee in Spain and Europe for several years, but this is the first time he has officiated at a World Cup.
Arrecife-born Hernández dished out four yellow cards in the match, which resulted in a convincing if slightly dull 3-0 win for Brazil.
