Spanish travellers are planning their Christmas holidays with increased enthusiasm this year, with new data revealing a significant surge in search activity across all travel categories according to travel search engine Kayak.
Lanzarote has secured a coveted spot on the list of most sought-after destinations worldwide. The island ranked as the ninth most popular destination for travellers searching from Spain.
La Voz de Lanzarote reports that Kayak found that the average flight price to Lanzarote is currently €277. This represents a 3% decrease compared to last year, making a festive break on the island slightly more affordable.
Lanzarote is not the only Canary Island in high demand. The archipelago features prominently on the list, with Tenerife taking the position as the second most popular destination. Flights to Tenerife average €208, also 3% cheaper than in 2023. Gran Canaria follows in seventh place, with an average flight cost of €203, a substantial 17% less than last year.
The number one destination for Spanish travellers is New York, with an average flight price of €598, which is 16% cheaper than in 2023. The top ten is rounded out by a mix of European and long-haul cities:
- 1st: New York (average flight €598, down 16%)
- 2nd: Tenerife (average flight €208, down 3%)
- 3rd: London (average flight €113, down 17%)
- 4th: Buenos Aires (average flight €1,574, up 13%)
- 5th: Rome (average flight €168, up 16%)
- 6th: Paris (average flight €154, up 9%)
- 7th: Gran Canaria (average flight €203, down 17%)
- 8th: Miami (average flight €745, down 4%)
- 9th: Lanzarote (average flight €277, down 3%)
- 10th: Prague (average flight €181, down 22%)
