Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort, has travelled to New York this week with a number of meetings set up to organise a major campaign in America to promote Lanzarote as a tourist destination.
Betancort arrived in New York this Wednesday, along with members of the Society for Foreign Promotion (SPEL), with the aim of promoting Lanzarote to the American market.
Betancort finds himself with a busy agenda – meeting with representatives of Turespaña on the East Coast and with the Spanish Ambassador to the United Nations, Héctor Gómez. The trip aims to consolidate “all the work done in recent months with Lanzarote to penetrate the American market as a sustainable and innovative tourist destination”, Betancort stated.
“We will maintain an extremely professional agenda in New York to seek the best interests for Lanzarote and share business strategies that will help us position the island in the American market as an innovative island in all aspects, sustainable and with a great gastronomic, cultural, artistic and sports potential, among other aspects”, he added.
In addition to meeting with Turespaña and the Spanish Ambassador to the United Nations, Betancort will also hold a meeting with the main tourism communication group in the United States “SKIFT”, to analyse the keys to a major campaign to be launched in America.
Betancort also highlighted the meeting with the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, this Thursday, at the Office of International Relations of the New York City Hall, with the aim of reaching an agreement and collaboration to publicise Lanzarote to New York residents.
Other important meetings include a meeting with the heads of the online travel agency “Virtuoso Luxury Travel Advisors”, with the advisory firm “UBS Global Wealth Management” and with the “Mercado Little Spain” team.
