The second edition of ‘Lanzarote, Arte y Guateque’ has launched to remarkable success, drawing large crowds and achieving significant sales from its very first night.
The opening event, held last Friday at the Ermita de Tías, saw more than 30 works sold, underscoring a growing public appetite for contemporary art created on the island and a strong commitment to supporting local talent.
Coordinated by the Ars Magna Cultural and Artistic Association with the support of Tías Ayuntamiento’s Department of Culture, led by Councillor Pepa González, the exhibition brings together over thirty artists working across disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, collage, engraving, and ceramics.
The impressive opening sales reinforce the project’s core mission: to make art more accessible and to encourage the public to purchase original works directly from local artists at affordable prices.
A diverse roster of island talent is featured in this second edition. Participating artists include A. Luzardo, Aida Extebarría, Atchen Pounapal, Bárbara Müller, Damián Rodríguez, Daniel L. Fleitas, David GP, Elena Betancor, Elena Zabalza, Emma LLG, Evelin Toledano, Fernando Robayna, Flora González, Gerson Díaz, Guacimara Hernández, Ico Mosquera, Ildefonso Aguilar, JUIN, Lana Corujo, Macarena López Grimón, María Arreb, Marina Speer, Pepe Vera, Pura Márquez, Rigoberto Camacho, Roberto F. Perdomo, Rosa Vera, Rubén Acosta, Rut Hernández Toledo, Sara GDM, Tallulah Mae Ellis, Tavío, and Víctor G. Moreno.
The organisers are now encouraging residents and visitors to explore the exhibition at the Ermita de Tías before it concludes on Sunday, January 5. Purchasing local art is presented not just as acquiring a unique piece, but as a direct investment in Lanzarote’s cultural fabric, helping to sustain its artists in a climate where exhibition and commercial spaces are limited.
As part of the event’s parallel programme, a festive gathering with music by Denis Rodd and vermouth by Primo Lanzarote is scheduled for Saturday, January 3, from 11:00 to 14:00, offering a relaxed social atmosphere in which to enjoy the art.
‘Lanzarote, Arte y Guateque’ remains open to the public until January 5. Visiting hours are Tuesday to Friday from 17:00 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 11:00 to 14:00. The exhibition will also open on the final day, Monday, January 5, during the afternoon. This event presents a unique opportunity to discover, enjoy, and directly support the island’s vibrant artistic community this holiday season.
