Lanzarote’s Society of Overseas Promotion (SPEL) has come to an agreement with Ryanair for a €275,000 promotional campaign designed at attracting tourists to Lanzarote.
The campaign will take place in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia. It is scheduled to start on social media in December and may be renewed in 2024.
Promotional deals such as this are a standard feature of agreements with Ryanair. When Fuerteventura authorities refused to sign up to the publicity deal with the airline in 2008, it withdrew flights from the island, seriously affecting the island’s economy.
