Lanzarote is set for a very warm weekend, with temperatures climbing steadily and peaking at around 35ºC on Sunday, according to the latest forecast from Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

After a warm Friday, conditions are expected to become increasingly hotter through Saturday before intense heat arrives on Sunday. Residents and tourists are being advised to take precautions, especially during the middle hours of the day when temperatures and UV levels will be at their highest.

Weekend Forecast for Lanzarote

  • Friday: Minimum 18ºC / Maximum 27ºC – UV Index 10
  • Saturday: Minimum 18ºC / Maximum 30ºC – UV Index 11
  • Sunday: Minimum 20ºC / Maximum 35ºC – UV Index 10

Moderate winds of between 15 and 25 km/h are expected throughout the weekend, which may provide some relief along coastal areas but can also make the strength of the sun feel deceptive.

Health Advice During the Heat

With UV levels classed as “very high”, people are strongly encouraged to protect themselves from sun exposure.

Health recommendations include:

  • Apply high-factor suncream, ideally SPF 30 or above, and reapply regularly.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, typically between 11am and 3pm.
  • Seek shade whenever possible, particularly on beaches and outdoor terraces.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration, even if you do not feel thirsty.
  • Wear light clothing, sunglasses and a hat when outdoors.

Visitors heading to beaches, pools or outdoor events this weekend are urged to plan ahead and take extra care in the heat.
