The incident occurred aboard Jet2 flight LS3201, which had departed from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and was on its final approach to Lanzarote’s César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.

According to a report posted by Spanish Air Traffic Controllers on X, the flight crew urgently notified the control tower that a passenger was suffering serious convulsions and would require immediate medical attention upon landing.

The control centre at Lanzarote Airport authorised a shortened flight path and gave the pilot special clearance to maintain a higher-than-normal speed during the descent. Controllers also cleared the airspace ahead of the aircraft to expedite its arrival.

While the plane made its approach, ground controllers were already coordinating with the airport’s emergency services, ensuring a team of medical personnel was mobilised and standing by on the tarmac.

Thanks to the rapid response, the passenger was able to receive urgent medical treatment immediately after the plane landed.
