Arrecife Ayuntamiento has announced that half a million Euros will be spent on improvements to Playa La Arena, the beach between the Castillo de San José and Puerto de los Marmoles.
The small beach is little-known to tourists, but is popular among Arrecife residents. It is also the only point on the south coast of the island where the lava flows of three centuries ago reached the sea.
Work has already begun on renovating the seafront walkway and other improvements will include showers, foot-showers, improved lighting and an irrigation system for green spaces. The project is expected to be finished in the first quarter of next year.
