More than hundred La Graciosa residents demonstrated against the closure of one of the roads leading to Playa Lambra this week.
Playa Lambra is an isolated beach on the north cost of the island, and the Coastal Department recently announced the closure of one of the access roads to the beach as part of a project to renovate the roads on the island.
However, locals claim that they will be unable to visit the beach to go fishing, and that the closure will also have an effect on tourism. They paraded through the sandy streets of Caleta de Sebo on foot and in safari jeeps, chanting “Hands Off Playa Lambra” and other slogans.
