Guardia Civil catch poachers in the north of Lanzarote

Guardia Civil officers have opened an investigation against three people who were discovered spearfishing illegally in a protected area in the north of the island.

The incident occurred at Playa Caleta de Mero in Haría on 11^th February, when three people were detained. Two had been fishing while the third had been acting as a lookout.

The group had caught around 55 kilograms of fish, which was confiscated and donated to Calor y Café, the homeless charity in Arrecife.
