Lanzarote’s biggest surfing and bodyboarding competition, the Quemao Class, will take place today, 11th December, and tomorrow the 12th at the village of La Santa.
Organizers finally gave the green light to the competition on Friday, after deciding that conditions were ideal for the event to take place.
32 surfers and 32 body boarders will ride the beautiful and potentially lethal reef break known as El Quemao over the next two days, attracting big crowds to La Santa.
The competition was officially launched yesterday evening with surfers paddling out to sea and forming a circle in memory of David Infante “El Fula”, the local surfer who lost his life to El Quemao in 2009.
