Three quarters of all farmland on Lanzarote is now devoted to grapevines, according to recent statistics from the Cabildo. The figures reflect recent high demand for local wines and the resulting increase in grape prices.

The statistics show that the total of farmland devoted to vines has increased by around 45% in just two years, while space devoted to potatoes, pulses and vegetables has fallen significantly over the last ten years.

3,872 hectares of land on Lanzarote were used for cultivation of crops in 2024, the largest area since 2008, when 4,505 hectares were used.

Non citric fruits and olive trees are the other crops that have shown significant growth in recent years.
