Four Pateras Intercepted Near Lanzarote, With Reports of Deaths on Board

The calm weather has brought another wave of pateras to Lanzarote, with at least four boats intercepted in recent hours.

Three boats containing a total of 132 people have already been escorted to Arrecife for processing.

Another boat containing an estimated 130 people, including 12 women, was picked up by the Guardamar Urania maritime rescue vessel, which has reported that there were signs of violence on board.

The boat reportedly contained two dead bodies, and another five bodies were thrown overboard, according to sources.
