At least four have died and five are missing after a migrant boat sank yesterday.
The rescue vessel Urania last night rescued 39 men, five women and a child from a boat that was sinking 74 miles north-east of Lanzarote. Three bodies were also taken to Arrecife.
This added to the one survivor and one body that had been picked up earlier by a rescue helicopter.
Passengers on the boat claim it originally held 55 occupants when it departed from Tan-Tan in Morocco, yesterday, meaning that five remain unaccounted for.
