Despacito singer Luis Fonsi may not perform on Playa Reducto on August 25th as the climax of Arrecife’s Fiestas de San Ginés, after possible legal problems with the technical requirements for the event.
The concert was placed in doubt after a report from the General Direction of the Coastal Department, which stated that it would be illegal to instal the control tower required for such a big event on the beach.
Nevertheless, Arrecife’s Department of Fiestas continues to seek a solution pasito a pasito. So far, possible alternatives have involved moving the concert to a site near the Cabildo’s Recinto Ferial or to the sports ground in Altavista.
The department is also investigating the possibility of another control tower which would fulfil legal requirements, allowing the concert to take place on Reducto, where the final San Ginés concert has been traditionally held.
