Vaccination campaigns have begun for flu and Covid, with any person registered with the health service now able to request an appointment.

The Canarian Health Service has acquired 300,000 doses of vaccine for the winter season and recommends that “the general population” are vaccinated, “but especially vulnerable groups and health professionals.”

The combined Covid/flu jab is recommended for all citizens over the age of 60; those suffering from chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity and heart conditions, pregnant women, those who live and work in residences, staff at pharmacies and emergency service workers.

In addition, the flu jab is recommended for children between six months and five years of age, smokers of any age and those who work with animals.

Appointments can be reserved by calling 012 or 928 301 012.
