Five Irish business owners in Puerto del Carmen will be honoured in March’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Mai Blake of the Irish Harbour Bar, Shay and Kathleen Byrne of Paddy’s Bar, Gilbert Brown of the Spinnaker Bar, Gerry Flanagan of Nelly’s Bar and John Killeen of Lanzarote Investments will all receive recognition for running businesses for more than 20 years in the municipality of Tías.
During a visit to the bars, Tías Mayor José Juan Cruz said, “Our municipality beats in the hearts of the majority of Irish people, and this is thanks to the work of those people who make every Irish person who comes to our island feel at home,” and thanked the business owners for their “perseverance and resilience” during the economic situation of recent decades.
