A fisherman has been banned from angling for three years and fined €8 a day for 18 months after catching and killing an angel shark.
The case arose after a complaint from environmental group ADACIS, who had seen a video of the fish being killed on social media.
In a separate case, SEPRONA, the Guardia Civil’s wildlife protection wing, have charged two men with placing an illegal net of the coast of Punta Mujeres. The net was detected before Christmas with two dead angel sharks entangled in it.
