The Cabildo has announced that the fish farms at Playa Quemada have now been completely removed. The last nine of 50 underwater cages were removed over recent months.
María Dolores Corujo, the outgoing President of the Cabildo, pledged that no more fish farms would be installed off the coast of the island.
“We´re not against this industry,” she said, “But we can’t allow the island to suffer the degradation that fish farms pose to the coast and to our biodiversity.”
