Works on the island’s third fire station, located in Tías, are going well and the centre is expected to open by summer.
The new base of operations will be located in the two-storey Casa Riverol in Tías, and will join the existing centres in Argana Alta, Arrecife and in Yaiza.
The project, which will cost €666,900, was described as “a priority” by Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort.
“We’re committed to reinforce our response capacities in cases of emergency,” said Betancort, pointing out that Tías was located in the “epicentre” of Lanzarote.
