A 22-year-old who assaulted two guards at the Lanzarote airport last week has been fined for three separate offences.

Last week an argument broke out between the 22-year-old and airport staff at the check-in desk. It is understood that the argument began after the young man’s mother was told that she could not travel due to issues with her documentation.

The 22-year-old began to raise his voice swearing at the check-in staff and threatening. Airport security arrived to try to diffuse the situation, however, the young man attacked them.

The court has handed the 22-year-old a 12-month fine (at a rate of 6 euros a day) for resisting, a 40-day fine (at a rate of 6 euros a day) for causing injuries as well as a 175 euro fine to be paid to both the security staff that he attacked.
