The fiestas in honour of the Virgin of Carmen will come to an end this weekend in Playa Blanca, La Santa, Valterra and La Graciosa.
The patron of sailors and fishermen is honoured with a maritime procession in each of these towns and villages. There will also be concerts, and other events at the main stages on every evening until Sunday.
Arrieta and Puerto del Carmen also celebrate the Virgin of Carmen, but Arrieta’s fiestas take place next week and the festivities in Puerto del Carmen’s harbour take place in the first two weeks of August.
The maritime processions, where an image of the virgin is taken to sea in fishing boats, will be as follows:
Playa Blanca: Maritime procession at 12 midday on Sunday 20th July, accompanied by the PAL Porrón folk group.
La Santa: Maritime procession at 6 pm on Sunday 20th July, accompanied by the municipal band and choir of Tinajo.
Valterra: Procession at 5pm to the Hospital Insular on Sunday 20th July, followed by maritime procession in Puerto Naos
La Graciosa held its maritime procession yesterday, on the feast day of Carmen, and will hold a foam party from 1 pm on Sunday.
