Ferry delay after captain was hit by car

The Saturday night ferry from Arrecife to Cadiz was delayed by over 15 hours after the captain was apparently hit by a car.

250 passengers boarded for the 11.30 pm departure on the Ciudad de Valencia ferry, but according to sources on the boat, the captain was injured by a hire car from another island that was leaving the ship.

The skipper had to be rushed to hospital for a leg injury, and passengers were forced to wait until 4pm on Sunday until a replacement could be found.

The ferry will now arrive in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
