The SEO/Birdlife association has installed two live webcams in the Timanfaya National Park, allowing viewers to observe the behaviour of Barbary Falcons.
The Barbary Falcon is a subspecies of Peregrine Falcon found on the Canaries, North Africa and the Middle East, whose main prey consists of pigeons. Classified as a vulnerable species, it is rarely seen outside of the wildest parts of Lanzarote.
SEO/Birdlife have installed cameras in a cave where falcons have bred in previous years, and another that allows viewers to see the birds leave and arrive. They have already captured footage of a pair of falcons courting, making nests and mating.
