Flights were delayed at César Manrique Airport yesterday morning after a false bomb threat caused security protocols to be activated.
Crew on flight BY64222 from Cardiff discovered a handwritten note in one of the plane’s toilets claiming that there was a bomb on the aircraft. As a result, the control tower activated security protocols, and the plane was evacuated shortly after landing.
Firefighters and a GEDEX bomb disposal unit were deployed before it was established that the threat was a false alarm. However, four flights were delayed after a temporary suspension of departures.
