The EU has approved a motion that will update driving licence laws, permitting youngsters of 17 years of age to drive as long as they are accompanied by an adult over 25 years of age.
When adopted in Spain, the new rules will allow young people to start their driving lessons a year earlier than currently. The age at which young people are permitted to take HGV and bus licences will also be reduced.
Digital licences will be introduced, although physical ones will remain available, and the validity of licences will be extended to 15 years until the age of 65.
