A French tourist fell and suffered a possible broken leg at Las Grietas yesterday.
Paramedics from the Canarian Emergency Services attended the site of Las Grietas on the LZ-35 Tías-San Bartolomé road after being called out at noon.
Finding it difficult to remove the woman, they requested the assistance of Lanzarote’s Volunteer Fire Service, Boluntis. Firefighters carried the victim on a stretcher to a 4×4 vehicle, then to an ambulance.
The incident is likely to increase concerns about safety and protection at Las Grietas, a series of crevices on the side of Montaña Blanca which have become an increasingly popular attraction in recent years.
