Drug trafficking rings could be responsible for the arson attack on the SIVE radar installation at Guinate, it has been claimed.
The installation was burnt out recently after announcements that it would start to function by the end of the month. Lancelot claims that sources close to the Guardia Civil’s investigation claim that drug trafficking organizations are the main suspects.
The Guardia Civil have stressed that the radar equipment has not been installed yet and that the SIVE system will continue to function as planned.
The SIVE system is used to detect boats in waters off Lanzarote, monitoring possible drug traffickers and irregular migrants.
