A man drowned at Papagayo yesterday, between the beaches of Playa de las Mujeres and Caleton de Cobre.
Emergency services were alerted to the presence of a bather who had been removed from the water and was showing no vital signs. Firemen and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man but were unsuccessful.
No further information about the victim has been provided.
The incident brings an end to a tragic year on Lanzarote’s coasts, with 12 drowning deaths recorded in 2025 – an increase of 33% on 2024’s total of 9.
