A striped dolphin was found dead on the coast of Puerto del Carmen over the weekend.
The small dolphin was discovered in the area known as La Peñita but had apparently been alive when it arrived hours earlier.
Members of the SECAC (Society of Cetacean Research in the Canarian Archipelago) took charge of the body and advised citizens not to return dolphins to the sea if they are found washed up on the beach.
Instead, they advise calling the emergency services on 112 so that trained professionals can deal with the situation.
