San Bartolome Ayuntamiento has approved a dog shower for the dog beach at Guacimeta, allowing dog owners to wash their sandy hounds down after playing on the beach.
Agility play facilities will also be installed for playful pooches, or for training purposes.
Jeziel Martín, the PP’s candidate for Mayor in the May elections, said his party had proposed the installation of showers because of public demand. “We have one of the most used beaches on the island,” said Martín, “And it is our duty to provide facilities and services that improve the lives of dogs and their owners.”
The dog beach, located on the stretch of Guacimeta beach on the seawards side of the airport, is one of only two beaches on Lanzarote where dogs are permitted.
